A one‑week online summer inquiry experience for students transitioning from Year 11 into Year 12 who want to feel more prepared for the academic demands ahead.
You'll investigate a question that genuinely interests you, explore different perspectives & develop skills that help you tackle future academic challenges with confidence.

Inquiry Lab is a guided academic exploration programme, not a tutoring course. Across five live online days, students choose a broad theme, investigate a meaningful question and build an “inquiry portfolio” that mirrors the kind of process they will meet in the IB Extended Essay, EPQ and university projects. Along the way, they practise core skills in research, critical thinking, communication and responsible AI use.

Here's what your week will look like...
Day one - QUESTION
Discover a question to explore
Students will:
- Explore areas of interest
- Learn how to make a good inquiry question
- Narrow down to a question that is focused, meaningful & manageable
By the end of Day 1, each student has a working inquiry question they’re genuinely curious about.
Day two - INVESTIGATE
Build your research roadmap
Students will:
- Turn their question into a simple research plan
- Identify what they need to find out and where to look
- Learn how to use AI to brainstorm angles responsibly
By the end of Day 2, students have a practical research strategy instead of a blank page.
DAY three - EVALUATE
Learn to evaluate information
Students will:
- Learn how to judge the reliability of sources
- Compare different types of evidence and perspectives
- Practise using AI to help check, question and deepen understanding
By the end of Day 3, students can explain *why* a source is or isn’t trustworthy.
DAY four - SYNTHESISE
Connect ideas & perspectives
Students will:
- Learn how to connect ideas across different sources
- Look for patterns, contrast, and emerging conclusions
- Organise their thinking so their ideas don't feel scattered
By the end of Day 4, they can see a clearer line through their research rather than a pile of disconnected notes.
DAY FIVE - COMMUNICATE
Present, reflect & look ahead
Students will:
- Prepare a mini inquiry showcase of their question, key findings and reflections
- Practise explaining their thinking clearly and confidently
- Reflect on how these skills will support them in Year 12 and beyond
By the end of Day 5, students have a 'mini inquiry project' that demonstrates their learning and a clearer sense of what independent academic work involves.

ABOUT ANDREA
Experienced educator & learning designer
I've spent over 16 years supporting international students through Academic English, IELTS, study skills and research projects in preparation for university study. I've worked with learners from a wide range of backgrounds, helping them build the confidence to communicate ideas clearly in academic contexts.
Alongside my teaching, I specialise in digital learning design, accessibility and the responsible use of AI in education. Inquiry Lab brings these strands together: thoughtful pedagogy, inclusive design and future‑focused skills that genuinely prepare students for the demands of modern academic life.
I created Inquiry Lab to give students a supportive space to practise the skills that schools increasingly expect, but don't always have the time to teach explicitly: curiosity, critical thinking, independent learning and responsible use of AI.
